All health facilities in Zimbabwe are expected to provide a minimum package of services for prevention, care and treatment of HIV for children, adolescents and adults (including pregnant and breastfeeding women).
The Zimbabwean health system is a tiered structure, in addition to the minimum package of services, each successive tier of the health system will have additional responsibilities related to clinical management, mentorship, supportive supervision, pharmacy and laboratory support services, and monitoring and evaluation. In addition, as HIV care has been taken closer to the community, the role of community cadres (village health workers (VHW), community adolescent treatment supporters (CATS), key population peer supporters and expert recipients of care) has become more clearly defined across the cascade of care.
