Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)

In line with the national guidelines, ZHI provides PrEP to population groups that may be most vulnerable to HIV acquisition include Sero-discordant couples (HIV-negative partners), adolescent girls and young women, pregnant and lactating women in relationships with men of unknown status or, if HIV positive, with a viral load that is not suppressed, and key populations.  ZHI is providing PrEP in over 17 districts in Zimbabwe.  PrEP is the use of antiretroviral medicines by HIV-negative individuals at substantial risk of getting HIV to reduce acquisition of HIV.
